Functional Check
If turbocharger overboost warning buzzer comes on during test, immediately release throttle to prevent serious damage to engine.
1. Disconnect the EGR solenoid hose at the vacuum tree located to the right of the brake power booster in the engine compartment.
2. Using T-fitting, install compound gauge between vacuum tree and the EGR solenoid hose, ensuring that gauge hose is long enough to reach passenger compartment.
3. Accelerate vehicle at wide open throttle from zero to 40-50 mph and observe compound gauge.
4. Gauge should read 13 psi for vehicle with automatic transmission or 15 psi for vehicle with manual transmission.
