Removal
The turbocharger is serviced by replacement only.
Before starting any turbocharger service or removal procedure, clean area around turbocharger assembly with suitable non-caustic solution. Cover openings of engine assembly connections to prevent entry of foreign matter while turbocharger is off engine. When removing turbocharger assembly, be especially careful not to bend, nick or in any way damage the compressor wheel blades. Any damage may result in rotating assembly imbalance and failure of bearings and oil seal. Any time there is damage to a basic engine bearing in a turbocharged engine, the oil and oil filter should be changed and the turbocharger should be flushed with clean engine oil. Interruption or contamination of oil supply to bearings in center housing which support the rotating assembly may result in major damage to turbocharger. When changing oil and oil filter on turbocharged engine, or when performing any operation before starting engine, disconnect ignition coil wire from distributor, crank engine several times (not to exceed 30 seconds for each cranking interval) until oil lamp goes out and reconnect ignition coil to distributor.
