Camshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove drive belts, water pump pulley, timing belt cover, crankshaft damper and pulley and timing belt.
3. Using camshaft sprocket holding/removing tool T74P-6256-B or equivalent, remove camshaft sprocket.
4. Remove camshaft sprocket belt guide.
5. Using front cover seal remover T74P-6700-B or equivalent, remove camshaft seal.

INSTALLATION
1. Ensure seal and seal surface on camshaft are clean and not damaged.
2. Lubricate camshaft seal surface and the seal lip with engine oil.
3. Install seal on front seal replacer tool T74P-6150-A or equivalent, then thread tool arbor into camshaft.
4. Turn nut on tool arbor until the seal is bottom in its bore in the camshaft front bearing tower.
5. Remove tool from camshaft.
6. Install camshaft sprocket belt guide.
7. Install camshaft sprocket, using tool T74P-6256-B or equivalent as a holding fixture, and the sprocket retaining bolt to push the sprocket onto the camshaft, Fig. 7.
8. Using new camshaft sprocket bolt or Teflon tape when installing. Torque sprocket bolt to 50-71 ft. lbs.
9. Install timing belt as outlined under ``Timing Belt, Replace,'' timing belt cover, crankshaft damper and pulley, water pump pulley and drive belts.
