AFFECTED VEHICLES
1986-model Escort, Lynx and EXP cars equipped with automatic transmissions and 1.9L engines having engine calibration codes 6-08A-R25/R27 and R28 and not serviced under Emissions Recall 91E17.
REASONS FOR RECALL
Owners of affected cars were notified in July, 1992 to return their cars to a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer for Emissions Recall 91E17 service.
After that service was performed some owners reported engine driveability problems. As a result the recall was temporarily suspended.
RECONTACTING OWNERS
Owners who have not responded to Emissions Recall 91E17 are being recontacted to return for service provided by this recall (Emissions Recall 93E39).
Owners who had recall 91E17 service performed are also being recontacted for the service provided by Emissions Recall 93E38.
INSPECTION AND SERVICE
Cars having engine calibration code 6-08A-R25 must be inspected to verify Emissions Recall 86E55 service.
All cars will have engine emissions control system modifications and attachment of Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) and Authorized Modifications labels.
