If EEC system wires chafe and ground on the fuel regulator, the condition could cause engine stall and no start concerns or erratic transmission shifting. To service this condition, repair the wires and install (flexible) convolute tubing.

Inspection/Repair Procedure
1. Inspect the two round 10-way connectors near the dash panel just to the right of the wiper motor (see Figure 7).
NOTE: If wires leading to the connectors are completely covered with convolute tubing, further inspection is not required. Perform normal diagnostic procedures.
If wires are not covered, go to Step 2.
2. Check each wire for possible damage caused by chafing on the fuel regulator.
NOTE: If wires are not damaged, install convolute tubing, following Steps 4 and 5, to prevent future chafing of the wires. Perform normal diagnostic procedures.
3. If damaged wires are found, repair as necessary.
4. Obtain two pieces of convolute tubing, approximately six inches long, and cover the wires to each 10-way connector from the main trunk of the wire harness to the back of each connector (see Figure 7).
5. Using electrical tape, secure the convolute tubing to the back of each connector and the main trunk of wire harness.
6. Check vehicle for proper operation.
