The fuel level is periodically stored in a non-volatile memory. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, The fuel gauge will display the fuel level within one unit of the previous display, unless fuel has been added or the vehicle is parked on an incline. F is displayed for fuel levels greater than 19 gallons for a 21 gallon tank, or 16 gallons for an 18 gallon tank. E is displayed for fuel levels less than 2 gallons for a 21 gallon tank, or 2 gallons for an 18 gallon tank.
