A "no start" condition or excessively rich running may be caused by the engine control sensor wiring assembly (12A581) shorting to ground. The 12A581 wiring assembly may contact a sharp edge of the wiper motor causing the fuel injectors to operate erratically. To correct this, a special wiring shield (14A099) should be installed using the following procedure.
1. Repair the damaged 12A581 wiring assembly, as required.
2. Remove any sharp burrs from the wiper motor housing.

3. Install the wiring shield (14A099) on the wiper motor housing and then position the 12A581 wiring assembly on the outside of the shield, Figure 18.
