PERFORMANCE POOR - 1.9L - SHORT/WORN FUEL PUMP PUSH ROD

FORD 1985 ESCORT, EXP

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1985 LYNX

Loss of power or fuel starvation may be due to a worn or short fuel pump push rod. This causes low fuel pressure and low fuel flow to the carburetor.

Follow diagnosis steps in Section 11-2 of the 1986 Car/Truck Emission Diagnosis Shop Manual (Volume H), when servicing this concern. If the push rod does not meet the specification in Step 1.B, replace the push rod (E1FZ-9400-B).

NOTE: If fuel pump is removed, replace the fuel pump gasket (E4EE-9417-AA).
