Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain oil from engine.
4. Disconnect starter cable.
5. Remove starter motor from engine.
6. Remove two oil pan-to-transaxle attaching bolts.
7. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold and converter.
8. Remove oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan.
9. Reverse procedure to install. If the oil pan is installed on engine with engine removed from vehicle, a transaxle case or equivalent fixture must be bolted to the block to align the oil pan up, flush with the rear face of the block. Torque the two M-10 pan-to-transaxle bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs., then loosen bolts one-half turn. Torque oil pan flange-to-cylinder block M-8 bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. Torque the two M-10 pan-to-transaxle bolts to 29-40 ft. lbs.
