1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove sound insulator from underside of instrument panel, Figs. 6 and 7.
3. Remove steering column opening cover from instrument panel.
4. Remove lower half of shroud from steering column.
5. Remove steering column to support attaching screws, then allow steering wheel to rest on front seat.
6. Remove one nut attaching instrument panel to steering column support bracket at the top of the steering column opening.
7. Disconnect center brace from lower flange on instrument panel.
8. Remove radio speaker opening covers from instrument panel.
9. Remove one screw attaching instrument panel to the top of the dash panel at each radio speaker opening and at the top center of the instrument panel.
10. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission.
11. Disconnect wire harness connectors from the blower motor and the blower motor resistor.
12. Move temperature control lever to cool and function control cable to OFF. Then disconnect the temperature and function cables from the heater core using tool T83P-18532-AH or equivalent.
13. Disconnect wires from right door dome lamp switch, if equipped, and remove wires from A-pillar.
14. Remove one screw attaching each end of the instrument panel to cowl side panels.
15. Pull instrument panel rearward away from the dash panel and cowl top panel, disconnecting any wires as necessary.
16. Reverse procedure to install.




TEMPERATURE GAUGE, REPLACE
Topaz
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument cluster as described under ``Instrument Cluster, Replace.''
3. Remove retaining screws, mask and lens from cluster backplate.
4. Remove two gauge retaining nuts and gauge.
5. Reverse procedure to install.




GRAPHIC WARNING DISPLAY, REPLACE
Escort, Lynx, Tempo & Topaz
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove console finish panel by prying at bottom edge to disengage retainers.
2. Remove module to console attaching screws, then pull module outward and disconnect electrical connector.
3. Remove module from console.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
