With Standard Cluster

1982-84 Exc. 1982-84 Cougar & Thunderbird

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect speedometer cable, then remove instrument panel trim cover and steering column shroud.
3. Remove screw attaching transmission shift lever indicator cable bracket to steering column, then detach cable loop from pin on shift cane lever and remove plastic clamp from around steering column.
4. Remove four instrument cluster retaining screws, then disconnect cluster feed plug and remove instrument cluster.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
