Certain 1984-model year Escort, Lynx and EXP vehicles equipped with 1.6L engines and manufactured at the Wayne Assembly Plant from start of 1984- model production through August 31, 1983.

Description of Condition and Correction

The attached Emissions Recall Bulletin advises dealers that some of the subject vehicles may have been manufactured with a blocked air control valve vacuum supply line. This would result when the 90~ elbow hose connector is fully installed on the vacuum nipple of the air control valve. In these instances, the nipple would bottom-out at the 90~ turn inside of the connector. Vehicles experiencing this condition may exhibit levels of exhaust emissions that could exceed applicable standards.
