Technical and Administrative Instructions Inspect1. Raise the hood
2. Locate the exhaust air supply control valve about midway on the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment between the engine and the front fender apron. A pink-striped vacuum hose, attached to the upper nipple of the valve, will be of assistance in locating the valve.
3. Using a mechanic's mirror and a light, locate the part number label affixed around the upper shoulder of the valve.
^ If the part number is E4SE-9F491-AA, the correct valve is installed in the vehicle and no further action is necessary.
^ If the part number is E4DE-9F491-AA, an incorrect valve is installed in the vehicle. Proceed to the following repair procedure.
Repair
1. Remove the air cleaner "zip" tube.
2. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses attached to the upper portion of the existing exhaust air supply control valve.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
4. Disconnect the three air hoses attached to the lower portion of the valve. Remove the valve.
5. Position the replacement valve (part number E4SZ-9F491-A). Connect the three air hoses to the lower portion of the valve.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Reconnect the two vacuum hoses to the upper portion of the valve.
8. Install the air cleaner "zip" tube.
9. Close the hood.

The 0.1 hour administrative allowance must be added before inserting the total labor time in the appropriate box of the Form 1864.

Reporting of Completions
Upon completion of the required service, return the second copy of the Form 1864 completely filled out and signed by authorized dealership personnel. Only the Form 1864 will be accepted for reimbursement. You are encouraged to use the Direct Warranty Entry (DWE) System for this program. It is important that all claims be filed for all completed units so that our records will show completion. Any problems encountered with this recall should be discussed with your FPSD Service Zone Manager.
