SEAT BELTS - CHILD RESTRAINT ANCHORS

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 GRAND MARQUIS WAGON

The location of the child restraint floor pan anchors is shown in the 1984 Shop Manual. However, there are drill dimples rather than holes in the load floor.

Use the following procedure for exposing the child restraint anchors in the rear floor pan.

1 . Remove carpet from top of rear load floor of vehicle.

2. Locate the two drill dimples in the load floor above the rear floor pan and drill two 1/2" diameter holes in the load floor as shown in Figure 8.
3. Remove the two plug buttons from the restraint anchors from the top of the vehicle with an awl.
4. Secure the child restraints to the floor pan anchors and slit the carpet as shown in Shop Manual page 41-52-4, Figure 6. Torque bolts to the restraint manufacturer's specifications.
