4. Remove the striker plate cover or "B" cap located at the top of the "B" pillar.
Figure 16:
5. Pull the weatherstrip out of the hatch opening channel as far as the "A" pillar.
Figure 17:
6. Remove the striker plate cover or "A" cap located at the top of the "A" pillar.
Figure 18:
7. Pull the weatherstrip out of the "A" pillar retainer to the joint between the door upper and lower weatherstrips.
If the weatherstrip joint is located at a new location, refer to the door lower weatherstrip replacement procedure.
Figure 11:
Be sure to remove the old push pins in the "A" pillar and seal the holes with Silicone Rubber Adhesive/Sealant (D6AZ-19562-B).
Figure 19:
8. Inspect the seal bolster. If it has slipped into the lower seal or has been damaged/distorted, it has to be replaced.
Weatherstrip continues up "A" pillar along side the retainer.
Figure 20:
9. Clean the "A" pillar retainer and hatch channel.
Remove all grease, silicone, bits of rubber and chunks of "dum-dum" from the retainers and channel.

10. Apply a 1/4 inch bead of Weatherstrip Adhesive, COAZ-19552-A (or equivalent), along the center of the "A" pillar weatherstrip retainer.
Figure 22:
11. Install the replacement weatherstrip in the "A" pillar retainer.
Make sure the bottom of the weatherstrip wraps around the bolster in the door lower weatherstrip.
Figure 23:
12. Glue upper weatherstrip to lower weatherstrip using rubber cement (8A-19552-B).

Figure 25:
14. Install the weatherstrip in the "B" pillar retainer.
Engage the lip on the window side of the weatherstrip into the retainer channel.
As the weatherstrip engages the retainer channel, push the back of the weatherstrip into position in the retainer.
Figure 26:
15. Seat the weatherstrip in the "B" pillar retainer using a plastic squeegee or similar tool.
Figure 27:
16. Push the weatherstrip retaining pin into the hole at the bottom of the "B" pillar. Glue weatherstrips together with weatherstrip adhesive.
NOTE: Check the mating of the door weatherstrip to the "B" pillar weatherstrip for fit to be sure a good seal is made and the weatherstrip on the "B" pillar is not collapsed at the molded end. If necessary, redrill the pin hole to get the proper fit.
Figure 28:
17. Apply a 1/4 inch bead of Weatherstrip Adhesive, COAZ-19552-A (or equivalent), in the hatch weatherstrip channel at the "A" and "B" pillars. The head should begin at the hatch striker and extend into the channel for 6-8 inches.
NOTE: Be sure area between seal retainer and body sheet metal cutoff is sealed with Butyl.
Do not apply sealant along the entire length of the weatherstrip channel.
Figure 29:
18. Install the weatherstrip in the channels on both sides of the hatch.
A large "bow" at the T-bar is normal and will be corrected in the next step.
NOTE: As the weatherstrip is started into the channel, slightly pull it to form an angle with the weatherstrip retainer. This will provide an even butt joint when the hatch is in place.
Figure 30:
19. To remove the "bow" at the T-bar, push the center into the weatherstrip and fit it smoothly to either side.
Figure 31:
20. In the drain trough, apply a 1/4 inch bead of Silicone Adhesive/Sealant, D6AZ-19562-A (or equivalent), under the weatherstrip tab and smooth the adhesive out being careful not to block up the drain trough.
