The subject model year vehicles were equipped with multi-speaker wiring requiring an adapter cable (part no. E3SZ-19A170-A) for the non-digital AM/FM/MPX and AM/FM/MPX tape radio combinations.

If the radio remains inoperative after radio replacement, verify that the adapter cable has not been inadvertently discarded.

NOTE: This adapter cable should not be used with electronically tuned (digital) radios, or else the radio will be severely damaged.
