Output Shaft: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
1. Remove 3rd-4th speed synchronizer from front end of output shaft.
2. Remove 3rd seed gear from front end of output shaft.
3. Remove snap ring, 2nd speed gear and thrust washer and synchronizer blocking ring from output shaft.
4. Remove 1st-2nd speed synchronizer snap ring from output shaft, then the 1st-2nd speed synchronizer.
5. Remove snap ring from rear of output shaft. Using a suitable press, remove 1st speed gear, thrust washer and output shaft rear bearing from shaft.
6. Reverse procedure to assemble.
