Venturi Valve Wide Open Throttle Opening

PRE-ADJUSTMENT CHECKS

NOTE: These checks are performed with carburetor installed on engine.

1. With transmission lever in Park and engine static, push accelerator pedal to floor and secure in this position.
2. Remove air cleaner, then push venturi valve lightly toward closed position and check gap between valve and air horn, Fig. 6. This is WOT limiter opening and must be .48 - .52 inch.
3. Position venturi valve at wide open stop position and check gap between valve and air horn, Fig. 7. This is WOT maximum opening and must be .99 - 1.01 inch.
4. If above specifications are incorrect, carburetor must be removed from vehicle and adjustments performed on bench.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

1. Remove carburetor from engine, then remove expansion plug covering venturi valve limiter adjustment screw, Fig. 8.
2. Remove WOT adjustment screw and spring with 5/32 inch allen wrench, Fig. 5.

3. Position throttle plates in wide open position, then lightly push venturi valve toward closed position and check gap between valve and air horn, Fig. 6. Using 5/64 inch allen wrench, rotate venturi valve limiter adjustment screw until gap of .48 - .52 inch is obtained, Fig. 9.
4. Install WOT adjustment screw and spring.

5. Position throttle plates to wide open position, then lightly push venturi valve to wide open stop and check gap between valve and air horn, Fig. 7. Gap should be .99 - 1.01 inch.
6. Rotate WOT adjustment screw until specification is obtained, Fig. 10.
7. Install new expansion plug, then install carburetor onto engine.
