Refer to Tune Up Specifications chart for curb and fast idle speeds.
1. Place transmission into Neutral or Park and operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained.
2. Position A/C-Heat selector to "OFF" position.
3. Disconnect and plug throttle kicker vacuum hose.
4. Place transmission in specified gear.
5. Check and adjust curb idle speed to specification as follows:
a. On vehicles equipped with air conditioning, adjust curb idle speed screw, Fig. 1.
b. On vehicles without air conditioning, adjust curb idle speed screw, Fig. 2.
c. Adjust saddle bracket adjusting screw, Fig. 3.
6. Place transmission in Neutral or Park and momentarily increase engine speed. Place transmission into specified gear, and check curb idle speed. Adjust if necessary.
7. Check and adjust dashpot clearance, Fig. 3. On 7200 model carb. clearance should be .090-.140 inch.
8. On 7200 model carburetors, note the following:
a. Apply pressure on the top of the accelerator pump nylon nut.
b. Turn nylon nut clockwise until a .010 inch clearance is obtained between the top of accelerator pump and pump lever.
c. Turn accelerator pump rod 1 turn counterclockwise to set lever lash preload.
9. Remove plug and connect throttle kicker vacuum hose.
10. Switch engine "OFF". Turn throttle lever to the wide open throttle position and release, allowing throttle plates to snap shut. Ensure that no excessive force is needed to open the throttle lever.
