Removal and Installation


Removal
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect the throttle cable from the lever.
3. disconnect the canister bowl vent tube, bowl vent tube, vacuum throttle kicker tube (if equipped), feedback tube (model 6500 only), distributor vacuum tube, thermactor dump valve vacuum tube, EGR vacuum tube and external choke pulldown vacuum tube (if equipped).
4. Disconnect the fuel inlet line, electric choke cap, bowl vent switch connector, throttle solenoid connector (if equipped), and idle tracking switch connector.
5. Remove the four flange nuts using Tool T74P-9510-A or equivalent.
6. Lift carburetor from manifold.

Installation
1. Clean or replace gaskets os necessary.
2. Position the carburetor on the spacer and install four attaching nuts. To prevent leakage, distortion or damage to the carburetor body flange, snug the attaching nuts, then alternately tighten each nut to 10-14 lb-ft.
3. Connect the electric choke, bowl vent switch, throttle solenoid (if equipped) and idle tracking switch.
4. Connect the bowl vent tube, canister bowl vent, vacuum throttle kicker (if equipped), feedback tube (6500 only), distributor vacuum tube and external choke pulldown (if equipped).
5. Connect fuel inlet line.
6. Connect the throttle cable to throttle lever.
7. Install the air cleaner, and start the engine to check for leaks.
8. Adjust the curb idle and fast idle speed as necessary.
