Distributor Advance Unit: Service and Repair


Replace
1. Remove distributor cap and position aside with ignition wires attached.
2. Disconnect vacuum advance vacuum hose.
3. Remove diaphragm retaining screws, then partially remove diaphragm assembly until it clears distributor base.
4. Tilt diaphragm assembly to disconnect rod from stator pivot pin, then remove vacuum advance assembly.
5. Check diaphragm O-ring for damage, then align threaded hole in advance assembly housing with screw hole in base.
6. Rotate stator assembly clockwise to position stator pivot pin.
7. Insert vacuum advance assembly through base until rod engages stator pivot pin.
8. Continue seating advance assembly into base until threaded hole in diaphragm casting aligns with hole in base.
9. Install diaphragm retaining screw, connect vacuum hose and install distributor cap.
