If an engine gradually loses power or exhibits symptoms of poor fuel supply including difficult restarting, the fuel return line check valve may require change. Service as follows:
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly and set aside.
2. Remove the fuel return line at the carburetor.
3. Remove the original fuel return check valve D1PZ9576-B with a 1Omm wrench and replace it with a E1PZ-9576-A, torque to 5.0 Nm (44 lb.in.).
4. Connect the fuel return line.
5. Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
6. Install air cleaner assembly.
7. Install a Ford Modification decal adjacent to the Emission Control decal listing carburetor changes.
