Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Fig. 20 Oil pan bolt tightening sequence:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil, then disconnect starter electrical connectors.
3. Remove knee brace, then the starter.
4. Remove transaxle knee braces, then the oil pan retaining bolts. Remove the oil pan and discard gaskets.
5. On turbocharged engines, remove EGR tubes from exhaust inlet pipe. Disconnect exhaust inlet pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove exhaust inlet pipe support bracket and pipe.
6. Reverse procedure to install using suitable sealant on all pan gaskets. Refer to Fig. 20, for oil pan bolt tightening sequence.
