Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then disconnect fan motor wire connector and detach wire loom clip from fan shroud.
2. Remove two nuts attaching fan motor and shroud, then remove fan motor and shroud assembly from vehicle.
3. Remove nut or clip retaining fan blade to fan motor shaft, then remove fan blade. The nut retaining the fan blade to the motor shaft has a left handed thread. The nut should be rotated clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten.
4. Remove three nuts and washers attaching fan motor to shroud, then remove fan motor.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque fan motor to fan shroud attaching nuts to 6.6 to 9.6 ft. lbs., fan blade to fan motor retaining nut to 30 to 40 inch lbs. and fan shroud to radiator attaching nuts to 80 to 100 inch lbs.
