Test 7, Primary Circuit

TFI ignition system primary system test connections:

Procedure
1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from distributor ignition module. Inspect connector for dirt and corrosion. To remove distributor connector, push connector tabs.
2. Connect the negative lead of a suitable voltmeter to distributor base. Connect positive lead to a straight pin to serve as a probe.
3. Turn ignition ``On'' and note voltage at terminal 1 of connector, Fig. 1.
4. If reading is within 90% of battery voltage, circuit is satisfactory. If reading is not within 90% of battery voltage, proceed to test 8. Test 8, Ignition Coil Primary Voltage
