CALIBRATIONS: All with 1.6 Ho
Over-advanced spark timing may cause burnt spark plug electrodes and, in some instances. Piston damage may occur. On a customer request basis for the symptoms above, perform the following:
^ MTX vehicles Retard the initial timing 4~ from the timing specified on the engine decal.
^ ATX vehicles
For 1982 vehicles replace the distributor vacuum diaphragm with diaphragm E4PZ-12370-B. For 1983 vehicles built prior to January 1, 1983, replace the diaphragm with E4PZ-12370-A. The service distributors for the ATX vehicles become E4PZ-12127-A (1982 vehicles) and E3EZ-12127- Y (1983 vehicles built prior to January 1, 1983).
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
