WARNING:
This Modification Is Authorized Only For The Listed Engine Calibration. Performing This Modification On Other Engine Calibrations Is Unauthorized And Could Create Liability Under Applicable Federal Or Local Laws.
Vehicles which exhibit customer concerns of a momentary loss of power during a driveaway approximately one (1) to three (3) miles from cold engine start, or carburetor throttle shaft icing after cold shutdown can be serviced in the following manner:
1. Remove the original EGR TVE, Part No. E1EE-9A995-AA (brown), which is located in the air cleaner adjacent to the duct and valve on the left hand side.
2. Install the new EGR TVS, Part No. D5AZ-9A995-A (white), in the original location.
3. Check and reset ignition timing to 8° BTDC, except on calibration 1-03 S-RO and R11 which will remain at 6° BTDC.
4. Check and reset idle speeds as per the Engine/Emission Diagnosis Manual to original calibration specifications.
5. Obtain an Authorized Modification decal and list the date, dealer number and alterations performed as shown. Select a prominent place adjacent to the vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
* Add timing reset note only if timing is reset to value other than that shown on the VECI.
