1. Raise car on hoist and remove wheels.
2. Drain differential lubricant.
3. Remove brake drums.
4. Remove differential housing cover.
5. Position safety stands under rear frame member and lower hoist to allow axle to lower as far as possible.
6. Working through differential case opening, remove pinion shaft lock bolt and pinion shaft.
7. Remove wheel speed sensor, if equipped.
8. Push axle shaft(s) inward toward center of axle housing and remove C-lock(s) from housing, Fig. 2.
9. Remove axle shaft, using extreme care to avoid contact of shaft seal lip with any portion of axle shaft except seal journal.
10. Use a hook-type puller to remove seal and bearing, Fig. 3.
11. Reverse procedure to install, using suitable driving tools, Fig. 4, to install seal and bearing. New seals are pre-packed with lubricant and do not require oil soaking before installation.
