Recall of Certain 1982 Model Granada and Cougar Vehicles For Replacement of The Thermactor Air Diverter Timer

VEHICLES INVOLVED

1982 model Granada/Cougar vehicles equipped with 3.8L and built at Chicago and Atlanta Assembly Plants from June 2 through June 8, 1982 having calibration 2-14B-RO1 (engine codes: CF-526-AF and CJ-526-AF).

DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION AND CORRECTION

The vehicles described above were built with an incorrect thermactor air diverter timer.

Ford is voluntarily recalling these vehicles to correct this condition. Correction will consist of installation of the proper timer into its position on the vertical support brace under the instrument panel.

ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE TO BE CORRECTED PRIOR TO DELIVERY TO OWNERS.

IDENTIFICATION OF UNITS

Identify by Vehicle Identification Number the units delivered or in transit to your dealership which are involved in this recall. These units are not yet posted to CARES, but will be in about one week. In the event your records indicate that an involved vehicle has been delivered to a purchaser, you are requested to contact the purchaser and arrange to correct the vehicle.
