Complaint:
Hanging side flap - side flap does not reach correct end position with roof folded down

(see annex - picture 1).

Cause:
Bolts securing guide rail (see annex - picture 3 - item 2) can work loose.

Remedy:

Perform adjustment operations on side flaps as follows:

1.) Fold up rear shelf (see annex - picture 2):

^ Open the retractable hardtop and stop its movement as soon as the roof is folded down and the rear shelf is folded up

(before the electric motor begins to run).

2.) Unhook spring control arm (see annex - picture 3):

^ Before performing any adjustment operations, protect the surrounding areas, e.g. the front part of the retractable hardtop, luggage compartment linings, against possible damage using a suitable dry cloth.

^ Unhook the spring control arm (item 1) so that the side flap can be turned freely.

3.) Align guide rail (see annex - picture 4):

^ Push back the guide rail (slight resistance will be felt); if necessary, loosen the two bolts securing the guide rail beforehand (annex - picture 3 - item 2); do not loosen the third bolt (M6).

^ When pushing back, make sure that the guide rail is pushed toward the elongated hole

(see arrow in picture 4).

^ Hold at the reached position and tighten the two bolts to max. 2.5 Nm (nominal torque 2 +/- 0.5 Nm)

(Left picture - before adjustment operations; right picture - after adjustment operations).

Important:
As of a torque of 3 Nm, either the bolt can break or the thread can be stripped.

4.) Install spring control arm:

^ Hook in the spring control arm and secure using the retaining ring.

5.) Check position of side flaps:

^ Continue the "open retractable hardtop" movement until the rear shelf is at its folded-down position.

^ Then, in its folded-down state, check the positions of the side flaps

(for gap dimension, see AR77.30-P-6373W).

6.) Repeat adjustment operations if necessary:

^ If the gap dimension is not OK, repeat the adjustment operations at the side flaps.

7.) Concluding work if gap dimension is OK:

^ The two bolts securing the guide rail (annex - picture 3 - item 2) must be secured in sequence using thread lock

^ When doing so, one bolt must first be removed completely and the bolt hole filled with "Loctite 270" thread lock. This bolt must then be inserted again and tightened securely to max. 2.5 Nm (nominal torque 2 +/- 0.5 Nm) before the second bolt is loosened and secured in the same way.

Important:
As of a torque of 3 Nm, either the bolt can break or the thread can be stripped.

When using thread lock, make sure that "Loctite 270" thread lock does not come into contact with any surrounding components or trim panels.
