Reason for change
Complaint:
In the trip computer "After reset" menu only dashes or implausible values are displayed for the average consumption (see attachment).
Note:
The complaint often occurs in new vehicles straight from the factory or after flashing of the engine control unit.
Attachments
Cause:
Data not synchronized between engine control unit and instrument cluster.
Remedy:
Engine variant OM651:
Flashing of engine control unit using XENTRY Diagnostics. The software is available as of Xentry version 09/2012.
After the flashing procedure the trip computer in the instrument cluster "After reset" must be reset manually using the steering wheel control buttons.
Engine variant OM642LS:
Flashing of engine control unit using XENTRY Diagnostics. The software is available as of the following Xentry versions with add-on ....:
^ Add-on 2527 for DVD 07/2012
^ Add-on 2521 for DVD 09/2012

Engine variant M276/M278:
We are currently working on a solution for these engine variants. This is expected to be available with Xentry version 01/2013.
Note:
Do not remove/install/replace any control units.
