AR42.10-P-1700-02W Move Rear Axle Brake Pads Into Assembly Position

Move to assembly position (via the workshop menu in the instrument cluster)

1 Insert transmitter key in the electronic ignition lock control unit and turn to position "1".
Close engine hood if the error message "engine hood open" is shown in the multifunction display (A1p13).
2 First press the right button of the accept and end phone call button (S111s3) and keep pressed, then also press the OK button (S110s6) within 1 s and hold.
Keep the right button of the accept and end phone call button (S111s3) and the OK button (S110s6) pressed for approx. 5 s: The workshop menu with the tabs "vehicle data", multifunction display (A1p13). "dynamometer test", "brake pad change" and "ASSYST PLUS" is shown in the multifunction display (A1p13).
3 Press the scroll forwards and backwards buttons (S110s1) repeatedly until "brake pad change" is highlighted and confirm selection with the OK button (S110s6).
The "Move to assembly position" indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
4 Confirm with OK button (S110s6).
Do not depress the service brake during "Move to assembly position". Otherwise, the spindle in the brake caliper can be damaged.
The "Assembly position reached" indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
5 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key.
This prevents "Exit assembly position" from occurring unintentionally.

Exit assembly position (via the workshop menu in the instrument cluster)
Only perform "Exit assembly position" when brake pads and brake caliper are installed. Otherwise the brake piston can be pushed out of the brake caliper.
6 Insert transmitter key in the electronic ignition lock control unit and turn to position "1".
The "Assembly position reached/exit assembly position" indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
7 Confirm with OK button (S110s6).
The "Assembly position being exited" indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) for the duration of the assembly position exit.
When the process has finished, the "Assembly position was exited" indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
8 Confirm with OK button (S110s6).
The workshop menu with the tabs "vehicle data", "dynamometer test", "brake pad change" and "ASSYST PLUS" appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
9 Exit workshop menu with "Back" and voice control system OFF button (S110s4).
10 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key
