GF42.45-P-5119RD Component Description For Electronic Stability Program Control Unit
GF42.45-P-5119RD Component Description For Electronic Stability Program Control Unit
MODEL 172.4
A7/3 Traction system hydraulic unit
N30/4 Electronic Stability Program control unit
Location
The Electronic Stability Program control unit is located on the traction system hydraulic unit in the front left of the engine compartment.
Task
The Electronic Stability Program control unit contains the control for the following systems:
- Adaptive Brake (ABR)
- Direct steering (with code (213) Direct steering)
- Tire pressure loss warning (RDW) (except code (475) Tire pressure monitor (Premium))
- PRE-SAFE(R) system
- Variable speed limiter (except code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, except code (494) USA version and except code (460) Canada version)
- Cruise control (except code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
In vehicles with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, the variable speed limiter and the cruise control are integrated in the radar sensors control unit (N62/1).
Rotational speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration
On the ABR Premium system (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) the data of the yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration are read in by the Electronic Stability Program control unit over the vehicle dynamics CAN.
On the ABR Basis system (except code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) the yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration is integrated into the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit, whereby a CAN connection to an external yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration is no longer required. The data for the rotational speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration are therefore recorded and evaluated directly by the Electronic Stability Program control unit.
The Electronic Stability Program control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluating input factors
^ Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Chassis CAN (CAN E)
^ Direct line
Direct line
The following signals are read in via direct lines:
- Terminal 30
- Circuit 31
- Brake vacuum sensor (B64/1) (with code (B03) ECO start/stop function)
- Stop lamp switch (S9/1)
- Left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1)
- Right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2)
- Left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3)
- Right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4)
Chassis CAN
The Electronic Stability Program control unit is a subscriber to the chassis CAN. It communicates, e.g. with the following control unit:
- Instrument cluster (A1)
Vehicle dynamics CAN
Signals are read in via the chassis CAN from the following components:
- Yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration (B24/15) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
- Radar sensors control unit (with code 233 DISTRONIC PLUS)
- DISTRONIC electric controller unit (A89) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the required components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following line:
^ Direct line
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (brake light actuation)
- Direct steering solenoid valve (Y10) (with code (213) Direct steering)
- Power steering pump quantity control valve (Y10/1)
- Yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration (voltage supply) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
