GF46.15-P-2004LE Storing/Calling Up Steering Column Position, Function

GF46.15-P-2004LE Storing/calling up steering column position, function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) [model 221.1]

General function requirements
^ C.15R On

Terminal status c. 15 is provided by the EIS control unit (N73) to the interior CAN.

Function of store/call up steering column position, general
Various positions of the steering column can be stored and called up with the call up/store steering column position function. The store/call up steering column position function is comprised of the following partial functions:
^ Function sequence - store steering column position
^ Function sequence - call up steering column position

Function sequence - store steering column position
The adjusted position of the steering column can be stored together with the position of the driver seat and position of the outside mirrors.

Storage takes place by operating a memory switch (S22s7, S22s8 or S22s9) and the memory switch (S22s6) in the left front seat operation switch group (S22).

Operation of the corresponding switches in the left front seat operation switch group is read in by the left door control unit (N69/1) (model 216) or by the left front door control unit (N69/1 (model 221) via the front door LIN and afterwards transmitted to the left front seat control unit (N32/1) via the interior CAN. The left front seat control unit then stores the position of the driver seat and the position of the outside mirrors.

The position of the steering column fore and aft motor (M20/1) and the position of the steering column up and down motor (M20/2) define the position of the steering column and are stored in the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). These are called up by the left front seat control unit after the request to adjust the steering column

The steering column position can be stored differently:
^ Operate and hold the memory switch, then press the corresponding memory switch
^ Operate and release the memory switch for t greater than 40 ms, then operate the corresponding memory switch within t = 3 s

After storage of the position of the steering column an acoustic feedback takes place by the warning buzzer integrated in the instrument cluster (A1) (A1h1). The request for output of acoustic feedback is output by the left front seat control unit on the interior CAN.

The central gateway control unit (N93) passes it on to the instrument cluster via the central CAN. The instrument cluster then actuates the warning buzzer.

Function sequence - call up steering column position
Approaching the position of the driver seat, outside mirrors and steering column stored previously is requested by operating a memory switch. In the process the corresponding memory switch must be kept pressed until the stored end position is reached. Releasing the memory switch leads to immediate termination of the adjust process. Operation of the corresponding memory switch is read in by the left door control unit or by the left front door control unit via the door LIN and afterwards transmitted to the left front seat control unit via the interior CAN. The left front seat control unit approaches the stored positions of the driver seat and outside mirrors and transmits a corresponding request to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The front SAM control unit actuates the steering column fore and aft motor or the steering column up and down motor for a corresponding period until the stored position of the steering column is approached.
