Location
Up to September 4, 2008, the WSS (weight sensing system) sensors are at the seat frame of the front passenger seat.
As of September 5, 2008, discontinuation of the WSS sensors at the seat frame, the weight sensing is performed via the padding of the front passenger seat cushion.
Note on replacing the seat adjustment mechanism
The seat adjustment mechanism with WSS sensors at the seat frame is no longer available as a replacement part. Before removing the seat adjustment mechanism, the installed seat frame must be checked. If a seat frame with WSS sensors is installed, the front passenger seat cushion must be replaced in addition to the seat adjustment mechanism.
Note on replacing the front passenger seat cushion (as of September 5, 2008)
The new front passenger seat cushion is only delivered complete with seat occupied recognition pressure sensor and WSS control unit and already precalibrated in the factory. The sealed connector must not be separated. This leads to malfunctions of the restraint system (SRS) on the passenger side. Commissioning of the weight sensing with Star Diagnosis is to be performed additionally following installation.
