Fuel System - Cutting, Hesitation Due To Fuel Delivery

Check of fuel pump in engine 642 and engine 651

Topic number LI47.20-P-054504

Version 1

Design group 47.20 Fuel pump, filter

Date 09-20-2012

Validity Models 246; 204; 207; 212; 218; 221; 251; 164; 166 with diesel engine

Reason for change Return pressure and return quantity in attachment changed

Complaint:
Complaints of engine running characteristics (cutting, hesitation) due to possible fuel delivery issues - fuel supply from pumps to the engine.

Cause:
In the event of problems that could be attributable to the fuel pump, the voltage/current values below should be used as reference values when the appropriate return pressures and return quantities are stabilized.

Table of values in attachment:

^ The return pressures and return quantities apply for a closed, operational system (all lines connected)

^ All pressure values are absolute values

^ Tolerance range of specified voltages (+/- 2V) and specified currents (+/- 1.5A)

Remedy:
Check whether the specified values are maintained. If the voltage or current test values deviate, the fuel pump must be replaced as per the EPC.
