Location
The DTR controller unit is located in the center behind the radiator grille.
Task
The DTR controller unit has the following tasks:
- Actuation, power supply and evaluation of the target data from the integral long range radar
- Control of the target evaluation (long range radar)
- Transfer of object data for the longitudinal vehicle regulation to the radar sensors control unit (SGR) (N62/1) (for code (239) Adaptive cruise control Plus Light)
- Passing on of the object data for vehicle longitudinal regulation to the video and radar sensor system control unit (N62/2 (for code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
- Transmission of the object data for traffic monitoring at the front (for code (237) Active Blind Spot Assist)
The DTR controller unit evaluates the target data internally.
The DISTRONIC controller unit the target data from the long range sensor from the DTR controller unit via the dynamics CAN (CAN H) to the radar sensors control unit or to the video and radar sensor system control unit.
Input and output signals
The following input signals are evaluated and output signals are issued via the vehicle dynamics CAN from the DTR controller unit:
- Input signals for vehicle dynamics CAN
- Output signals for vehicle dynamics CAN
Input signals for vehicle dynamics CAN
- Radar request
- Diagnosis request
Output signals for vehicle dynamics CAN
- Target data for the long range radar
- Diagnostic data
Design
The DTR controller unit contains a control electronics for actuation and evaluation of the long range radar.
Properties of long range radar:
- Detection range of radar sensor from s = 0 to 200 m
- The detection angle of the radar beam for the detection ranges from s = 0 to 60 m Angular= 60° and for s = 0 to 200 m Angular= 18°
- 77 GHz radar sensor operating on the pulse Doppler principle for independent measurement of distance and speed
- Fully integrated electronics system (high frequency circuit in the DTR controller unit)
The DTR electric controller unit must be newly adjusted after The exchange (e.g. after an accident repair) using the integrated "service adjustment mode".
The radar plate (A) is a radar-permeable cover in the radiator grille, which is required for the DISTRONIC PLUS to function correctly.
The radar plate has the following tasks:
- Shielding against external effects (such as dirt, ice or insects)
- Ensuring optimal transmission and reception properties of the radar sensor
