GF82.60-P-2003LEJ

GF82.60-P-2003LEJ Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (529) HIGH Class Japan

Function requirements
^ Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15 ON"
^ The Cockpit Management and Data System (COMAND) switched on and audio source in operation

General
All volume and sound settings are made using the front central operating unit (A40/9) or the multifunction steering wheel (MFL). This is done either by the user or automatically by the dynamic range optimization (DRO) which adapts the level of noise in the vehicle interior.

The volume and sound setting function can be conducted as follows:
^ General function sequence for volume adjustment on right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
^ Function sequence for general volume adjustment and general, extended sound settings via the front central operating unit
^ Function sequence for dynamic range optimization

Operating instructions
The volume/tone settings can be made using the following components:
- Using the buttons + and - for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) of the MFL
- Via the front central operating unit

Function sequence, general volume setting via right multifunction steering wheel button group
Pressing the + and - buttons for setting specific functions and volume control enables the volume for the desired audio function to be increased or reduced.
The control signals are forwarded via the following path to the audio tuner control unit (N93/1):
- Steering LIN
- Steering column tube module (N80)
- Chassis CAN
- Central gateway control unit (N93)
- Central CAN
- COMAND controller unit
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

The sound settings are shown on the COMAND display (A40/8). Predefined settings can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default setting via the system settings.

Function sequence for general volume adjustment and general, extended sound settings via the front central operating unit
The volume control (A40/9r1) is located on the front central operating unit. The volume control enables manual adjustments to be made to the volume and tone settings for each audio source. The required tone settings can be performed via the "Sound" menu. They can be set separately for each function (e.g. CD, radio reception, traffic announcements). The control signals are sent via the telematics CAN to the COMAND control unit. The desired settings are then forwarded by the COMAND control unit via the MOST to the audio tuner control unit . If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other.

Function sequence for dynamic range optimization
The dynamic range optimization can be used to adjust the volume to the noise level prevalent inside the vehicle. The signal input at the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) is used as a relationship indicator when doing this. This procedure will run automatically. After evaluating the relationship indicator, the audio output is matched to the noise level in the vehicle interior. The evaluated relationship indicator is sent via the following path to the audio tuner control unit:
- Sound amplifier microphone
- Direct line

The audio signals on model 221 are sent by the audio tuner control unit via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker group (H4/1), except code (810) Sound system
- Right front door speaker group (H4/2), except code (810) Sound system
- Left rear door speaker group (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker group (H4/4)
- Bass box speaker (H4/17)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54), with code (810) Sound system
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57), with code (810) Sound system
- Left front door sound tweeter (H4/68), with code (810) Sound system
- Right front door sound tweeter (H4/69), with code (810) Sound system
- Left front door sound woofer and midrange speaker group (H4/72), with code (810) Sound system
- Right front door sound woofer and midrange speaker group (H4/73), with code (810) Sound system

The audio signals are emitted on model 216 by the audio tuner control unit via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door rear speaker (H4/3)
- Right door rear speaker (H4/4)
- Bass box speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker
- Left door sound tweeter (H4/68)
- Right door sound tweeter (H4/69)
- Left door sound woofer and midrange speaker group (H4/72)
- Right door sound woofer and midrange speaker group (H4/73)
