Component Identification:

1 Disconnect sealing element (37) from roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) from rental vehicle wiring harness (7).


Sealing element (37) is no longer required. The disconnected roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) from the rental vehicle wiring harness (7) is still required.











2 Using a suitable tool, make an opening in the second hole from the top (see arrow) in the vehicle's grommet (39).


Ensure that no other lines that are located behind the grommet 39) are damaged.

3 Connect a pull-through aid (e.g. plastic vacuum line) to the disconnected end of the roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d).
4 Route roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) with connected pull- through aid from engine compartment into interior.







5 Connect red and black line of roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) color-coded to lines at rental vehicle wiring harness (7) using a potential distributor (38).


The voltage distributors (38) are to be taken from the wiring harness repair set.

6 Attach felt strips around connected potential distributors (38) (see arrow).
7 Pull roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) into engine compartment until connected potential distributors (38) are located in cable duct (15).







8 Route roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) as per pictures along vehicle's wiring harnesses in engine compartment and fasten using cable tie.


The roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) must be routed below the battery bracket (40) and below the brackets (41) of the windshield wiper system

9 Fasten roof sign lamp intermediate connector (X40) at vehicle's wiring harness above brake booster (42) using cable tie.
10 Attach four pieces of butyl cord (43) (see arrows) with a length of 30 mm as per picture at outside on left A-pillar.







11 Attach four pieces of butyl cord (43) (see arrows) with a length of 30 mm as per picture in roof drip molding.

Component Identification:

12 Fix roof sign wiring harness (36) in place in attached butyl cord pieces.


Ensure that the red color coding (see arrow) at the roof sign wiring harness (36) is positioned exactly at the end of the bracket (44).

Component Identification:

13 Route roof sign wiring harness (36) as per pictures below wiper system to roof sign lamp intermediate connector (X40) above brake booster (42).
14 Connect coupling from roof sign wiring harness (36) to roof sign lamp intermediate connector (X40).

The roof sign wiring harness (36) must be routed such that it cannot be damaged by the wiper system.

15 Seal roof sign lamp branch-off line (7d) in vehicle's grommet (39) with MB body sealant.
