GF82.85-P-2011LE TV-Mode, Function

GF82.85-P-2011LE TV-mode, Function
- with CODE (863) Digital/analog TV tuner

Function requirements, general
^ C. 30g ON or c. 15R ON
^ COMAND controller unit (A40/3) is switched on
^ "TV" menu selected
^ TV-antenna signals available

TV mode, general
The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) makes it possible to receive analog as well as digital television stations in the vehicle and display them via the COMAND display (A40/8) (without code (867) SPLITVIEW) or via the SPLITVIEW display (A40/10) (with code (867) SPLITVIEW).

Analog and digital TV signals are received over the same antenna structures. The function is therefore described together.

The TV functions can be selected, activated, and configured with the front central operating unit (A40/9) or with a remote control (as of 1.6.09 with code (816) Entertainment remote control or code (867) SPLITVIEW).

The TV mode function comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence, TV signal reception
^ Function sequence, video signal
^ Function sequence, audio signal

Function sequence, TV signal reception
The antenna signals of TV antennas 1 to 4 in the rear window for TV reception are forwarded to the TV combination tuner (analog/ digital) in the following way:
- Direct lines
- Rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12)
- Direct lines

The TV signal reception function is subdivided into the following subfunctions:
^ Analog TV reception function sequence
^ Digital TV reception function sequence

Analog TV reception function sequence
The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) receives and processes analog terrestrial television programs broadcast in all standards. The audio quality is limited to "MONO".
The TV system operates with a total of 3 reception modules for video and audio signals. The tuners used thus cover a reception range of f = 30 to 866 MHz.
The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) supports the reception of the TV standard "PAL/SECAM" and "NTSC" and is equipped with four antenna inputs, into which TV signals are fed by the rear window antenna amplifier module.
The antennas are not assigned to a particular tuner but can be used in the same way by each tuner.

Digital TV reception function sequence
In addition to the analog TV stations, it is also possible to receive terrestrial TV stations broadcasting digital signals via the existing antenna structure. Only the Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial standard is supported. In contrast to analog TV, the audio can be received in "stereo" here. The switchover from analog to digital TV reception is automatically accomplished by the TV combination tuner (analog/digital) depending on the current reception status. The user cannot influence this. However, switchover between alternative channels as well as between analog and digital reception can be prevented with the "Fix channel" control function. If stations with matching stations names are received (e.g. ARD analog and digital), only one entry is made in the list of stations.

Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial makes it possible to receive more TV stations in better quality due to the wider frequency range.

The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) also possesses the following functions:
- Video text (pages: 100 to 899)
- Station list of channels currently receivable
- Digital image storage
- Last settings
- National settings

Videotext:
Some stations, primarily in central Europe, offer videotext in addition to their television program. The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) is therefore equipped with its own videotext decoder.

Function sequence, video signal
After the TV signals have been processed in the TV combination tuner (analog/digital), the video signals are displayed as follows:
- Y brightness (luminance)/C color information (chrominance) (Y/ C) line
- COMAND controller unit
- Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) line
- COMAND display or SPLITVIEW display
- Left rear display (A40/5) or right rear display (A40/6) (model 221 with code (864) Rear entertainment system)

Function sequence, audio signal
After the TV signals have been processed in the TV combination tuner (analog/digital), the audio signals are forwarded via the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) to the audio tuner control unit (N93/1) and then output over the speaker system.

The speaker system in model 216 comprises the following components:
- Left door speaker group (H4/1)
(without code (810) Sound system)
