The reversing camera system assists the driver when reverse parking and when backing up.
The reversing camera system enables the driver to select between two parking modes:
^ Reverse parking
^ Parallel parking
The operating instructions for this are described in the separate document Operating instructions for reversing camera (RFK).
Additional function requirements - reversing camera
^ Reverse gear engaged
^ Reversing camera system activated via the instrument cluster (A1)
^ Trunk lid closed
Reversing camera function sequence
The signal "Reverse gear engaged" is transmitted by the ETC [EGS] control unit (N15/3) (with transmission 722.6) or by the fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) (Y3/8n4) (with transmission 722.9) via the drive train CAN to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or to the motor electronics control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine). The CDI control unit or motor electronics control unit passes on the signal via the chassis CAN to the central gateway control unit (N93) which passes on the signal to the reversing camera control unit via the interior CAN.N66/2 The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) passes on the status of the trunk lid via the interior CAN.
As a result of this the reversing camera control unit supplies the reversing camera (B84/3) with voltage.
The camera pictures recorded by the reversing camera are read in and evaluated by the reversing camera control unit.
In addition, the reversing camera control unit calculates guide lines based on the steering angle and the stored vehicle parameters. These are integrated in the camera pictures received by the reversing camera control unit and transmitted to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). As a result of this the COMAND controller unit activates the COMAND display via the Telematics CAN (A40/8). The picture data are transmitted directly from the COMAND controller unit via the LVDS interface (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) to the COMAND display and displayed.
A voice output can also be selected in this national version. The voice output takes place in the Japanese or English and is activated or deactivated in the instrument cluster.
As an alternative the warning messages in the COMAND display can likewise be reproduced in Japanese or English.
