Reversing camera, general
The reversing camera system assists the driver when reverse parking and when backing up.

Reversing camera function sequence
The signal "Reverse gear engaged" is transmitted by the ETC [EGS] control unit (N15/3) (with transmission 722.6) or by the fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) (Y3/8n4) (with transmission 722.9) via the drive train CAN to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or to the motor electronics control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine). The CDI control unit or motor electronics control unit passes on the signal via the chassis CAN to the central gateway control unit (N93) which routes the signal on the interior CAN.
As a result of this the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) activates the reversing camera power supply module (N66/10) which supplies the reversing camera (B84/3) with power.

The camera pictures recorded by the reversing camera are transmitted to the COMAND controller unit via the reversing camera power supply moduleA40/3 As a result of this the COMAND controller unit activates the COMAND display via the Telematics CAN (A40/8). The picture data are transmitted directly from the COMAND controller unit via the LVDS interface (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) to the COMAND display and displayed.
