GF82.85-P-3136LEJ COMAND Controller Unit, Component Description

GF82.85-P-3136LEJ COMAND Controller Unit, Component Description
- with CODE (529) HIGH Class Japan

Component Identification:

Location
The COMAND controller unit is installed into the center console.

Task
The COMAND controller unit fulfills the following tasks:
^ Processing unit for entertainment and communications systems
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuates output media

Processing unit for entertainment and communications systems
The COMAND controller unit provides the user with a structured and uniform interface via the COMAND display (A40/8).

Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)
^ Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

Direct line
The following signals are read in via direct lines:
- Wake-up (MOST)
- AUX input
- Global Positioning System (GPS) signal
- Composite Video Baseband Signal (CVBS) from the reversing camera control unit (N66/2) (in model 221 with code (218) Reversing camera)
- Antenna signals from the TV antenna selector (A2/79)
- Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS) data
- Electronic Toll Collection System (ETC) data
- Cellular telephone
- Input signals of the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1)

CAN
The signals are read in by the COMAND controller unit via telematics CAN (CAN A) and central CAN (CAN F).
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

MOST
The COMAND controller unit reads in control and audio signals of the audio tuner control unit (N93/1) via MOST.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are processed and evaluated by the COMAND controller unit.

Actuates output media
Output media are actuated with the following connection:
^ Direct line
^ MOST
^ CAN

Direct line
The following output media are actuated via direct lines:
- COMAND display via low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line (picture and video signals)
- DVD player (A40/4) (model 221 with code (864) Rear entertainment system) picture signals via LVDS line, TV audio via direct line, TV video via Y - brightness (luminance)/C - color information (chrominance) (Y/C) line
- Switching voltage for Electronic Toll Collection control unit (ETC) (A50/3) (U = 12 V)
- Switching voltage for VICS antenna (U = 5 V)

LVDS lines are used to transfer picture and video signals.

MOST
The COMAND controller unit transmits audio signals to the audio tuner control unit.

CAN
The signals are transmitted by the COMAND controller unit via telematics CAN and central CAN.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
