GF82.85-P-0003-07LE Cockpit Management And Data System (COMAND) Switch On/Off Behavior
- with CODE (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation)
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)

Cockpit Management and Data System (COMAND), switching On/Off characteristic, general
The COMAND can be switched on or off as follows:
^ Automatically by switching c. 15R on and off
^ Manually by pressing the "ON" button on the COMAND controller unit (A40/3)
^ Automatic switch-off in the event of undervoltage
^ Switch-off behavior (run-on mode) for stopover (without code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation))
^ Manually via remote control (with code (816) Entertainment remote control or code (867) SPLITVIEW or for model 221 with code (864) Rear entertainment system)

Automatically by switching c. 15R on and off
When activating circuit 15R (turning transmitter key (A8/1) in the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) to position 1) the COMAND controller unit is switched on, provided that it was on before the transmitter key was last removed.
The audio application that was active last is started and the associated start menu is displayed in the audio/COMAND display (A40/8) (without code (867) SPLITVIEW) or in the SPLITVIEW display (A40/10) (with code (867) SPLITVIEW). If the COMAND controller unit was switched off, a warning note with general information on use of the audio system is shown.
The COMAND controller unit is switched off by removing the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit.

Manually by pressing the "ON" button on the COMAND controller unit
Pressing the "ON" button, enables the COMAND controller unit to be switched on or off even when the transmitter key has been removed. If it was switched on, all audio system functions are available for t = 30 min.
Following this, the COMAND controller unit is automatically switched off.

Automatic switch-off in the event of undervoltage
In the event of an on-board undervoltage, a corresponding warning message is shown on the audio/COMAND display or in the SPLITVIEW display. This represents an engine starts request. If the engine is not started, an additional warning message appears after t = 3 min. If the engine fails to start within the next t = 10 s, the COMAND controller unit switches off the audio system.

If the on-board electrical system voltage starts to rise again, the COMAND controller unit is not automatically switched on again. The COMAND controller unit can be manually switched on again. The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.

Switch-off behavior (run-on mode) for stopover (without code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation))
If during active route guidance the journey is interrupted and the transmitter key is removed from the EIS [EZS] control unit (e.g. refueling stop), the navigation function remains active for a maximum of t = 30 min. The run-on time of the navigation system starts. After t = 30 to 120 minutes, the COMAND controller unit switches into the sleep mode.

The route is re-calculated after restarting the vehicle and the navigation continued. After t = 120h a request is displayed after starting the vehicle asking whether the route should be recalculated:
- "YES" = Route is calculated again.
- "NO" = Navigation will cease.

This prompt must be answered accordingly.

Manually via remote control (with code (816) Entertainment remote control or with code (867) SPLITVIEW or for model 221 and code (864) Rear entertainment system)
The COMAND controller unit can also be switched on or off with the transmitter key removed by pressing the On/Off button on the remote control in the "COMAND" control wheel position.

The COMAND controller unit cannot be switched off if a telephone connection is active.
