Creaking/squeaking noises from the front axle when steering

Cause:

Spring cup mounting of suspension strut

Remedy:

Valid for 212.x77:

^ Replace spring cup mountings and suspension strut rubber end stop. Valid for 212.x74 and 218.x74:








^ Check whether there are any manufacturing burrs on the spring cup mounting, and remove the burrs if necessary (see illustration)

Check inside diameter of spring cup mounting and correct if necessary (see illustration)
