Reason for change WIS-References updated.

Complaint:
Knocking/creaking noises from the area of the front axle when maneuvering with steering almost at full lock.

Cause:
Hydro-mount in strut rod.

When maneuvering, the inner stop plug in the hydro-mount collides with the outer sleeve and causes corresponding noises.

Note:

The noise can be best reproduced by driving a figure-8 in reverse. If the noises occur during this maneuver, then the steering gear is definitely not the cause and must not be replaced.

Remedy:
Replace hydro-mounts on both strut rods. See EPC for part number.

Important:
If the rubber boots are not present, they must be retrofitted. Follow assembly instructions in WIS.
