Interior Light Switch: Description and Operation
GF82.20-P-2000CA Manual Interior Lights Control, Function
Function requirements for manual interior lights control, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
(operating voltage range U ≥7 ≤17.5V)
Manual interior lights control in general
The manual interior lights control allows the interior illumination, reading illumination, vanity mirror illumination and the glove compartment illumination to be switched on and off. Pressing the switches, some of which are arranged on the housing of the overhead control panel electronics (N70/3), supplies voltage to the corresponding components.
Power is supplied to the overhead control panel electronics by means of the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). Upon pressing a switch at the overhead control panel electronics, the voltage is supplied to the corresponding component and the component switched on or off.
The manual interior lights control feature consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for interior illumination
^ Function sequence for reading illumination
^ Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
^ Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
Function sequence for interior illumination
The following components in the interior illumination can be manually switched on or off by pressing the corresponding switches:
- Left front interior lamp (N70/3e4) and right front interior lamp (N70/3e5) via the front dome lamp switch (N70/3s4)
- Rear interior lamp (E15/3e3) (on model 207.3) via the rear dome lamp switch (N70/3s2)
Function sequence for reading lamps
The reading illumination serves to illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect on the driver.
The following components of the reading illumination can be manually switched on and off by pressing the corresponding switches at the inside rearview mirror (A67):
- Left reading lamp (A67e1) via the left front reading lamp switch (N70/3s6)
- Right reading lamp (A67e2) via the right front reading lamp switch (N70/3s7)
Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
The following components of the vanity mirror illumination can be manually switched on or off by folding the corresponding mirror cover open or shut:
- Left sun visor mirror lamp (E14/1) via the left front mirror lamp switch (S101)
- Right sun visor mirror lamp (E14/2) via the right front mirror lamp switch (S102)
The power supply of the mirror lamp switch is switched off by folding shut the mirror cover, locking the vehicle by means of transmitter key (A8/1) or exiting the vehicle (with code (889) Keyless-Go).
To preserve the on-board electrical system battery (G1), the power supply is interrupted t = 30 min following circuit 15 OFF.
Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination
^ Circuit 15R ON
Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
The status of circuit 15 is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) via interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit. The glove compartment lamp switch (S17/9) is supplied with power via the front SAM control unit. Voltage is supplied to the glove compartment lamp (E13/1) by opening the glove compartment lid.
