GF40.15-P-0001-08CA Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM (RDK)) Messages

GF40.15-P-0001-08CA Tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) messages
- with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (premium) Fa. Schrader

The tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) messages are shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).

A distinction is made between the following:
- Menu displays
- Warning messages

The menu displays can be called up in the instrument cluster using the tire pressure monitor menu.

The warning messages appear automatically.

Depending on the warning message the tire pressure monitor warning lamp (A1e66) is also actuated.

Menu display 1
The TPM [RDK] is not available until the "circuit 15 ON" status.

Menu display 2
Normal condition, display of pressure picture:
- No fault
- Vehicle wheels detected and assigned to positions
- Current pressure signals are available

A manual restart by pressing the scroll forward back/button (S110s1) in the lower section and then pressing the OK button (S110s6) is possible.

Menu display 3
Status picture of tire pressure monitor at manual restart by operating the scroll forward back/button and then pressing the OK button.

Menu display 4
Status picture in event of fault, the TPM is nonfunctional. Possible causes are:
- Instrument cluster does not receive any valid Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) signals from the tire pressure monitoring control unit (N88)
- System shutoff due to fault (diagnosis fault entry) or TPM [RDK] control unit nonfunctional (shutoff due to malfunction)
- Failure of left front tire pressure sensor (A69/1), right front tire pressure sensor (A69/2), left rear tire pressure sensor (A69/3) or right rear tire pressure sensor (A69/4) because of excess temperature
- Temporary fault due to over voltage/under voltage

Menu display 5
Status picture of TPM [RDK] after ignition restart ("Circuit 15 ON" status).

No high frequency signals (433 MHz) from the left front tire pressure sensor, right front tire pressure sensor, left rear tire pressure sensor and right rear tire pressure sensor are available yet. When the wheels are already known to the system, the pressure picture appears shortly after the start of the trip. It can take a few minutes for the system to identify the positions with new wheels.

A manual restart by pressing the scroll forward back/button () in the lower section and then pressing the OK button is possible.

Menu display 6
The tire pressure sensors are all missing. Possible causes are:
- TPM [RDK] does not receive any signals from the tire pressure sensors
- Possible cause: Wheels have been fitted that do not have any tire pressure sensors installed on them.

Warning message 1
Status picture in event of fault, the TPM is nonfunctional. The instrument cluster is not receiving any messages from the tire pressure monitoring control unit due to one of the following potential causes:
- Control unit tire pressure monitoring missing
- Control unit tire pressure monitoring defective
- CAN line interrupted
- Shutoff because of malfunction

The tire pressure monitor warning lamp flashes on and off for t = 60 s and then stays on permanently.

Warning message 2
"Soft warning" caused by one of the following reasons:
- At least one wheel exhibits a pressure loss of 0.25 bar less than increment p less than 0.5 bar compared with the specified pressure stored in the control unit tire pressure monitoring. At the end of the trip (status "Circuit 15 OFF"), the multifunction display notifies the driver that pressure correction is necessary. No wheel is highlighted because normally all tire pressures have to be corrected.
- On vehicles except code (494) USA version, the message appears after a few minutes of driving after automatic filling detection if the new pressure values are implausible.

Warning message 3
"Hard warning" with position specified, if one of the following conditions is present:
- Pressure loss of 20 % or increment p ≥ 0.5 bar, when the wheel positions have been allocated

In addition the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster is actuated continuously.

Warning message 4
Significant pressure loss (increment p greater than 20 % (p_specified)) detected on one or more wheels. Wheel position not assigned.

The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is permanently on and a beep is also sounded.

Warning message 5
"Hard warning" with position specified, if one of the following conditions is present:
- Pressure loss of 20 % or increment p ≥ 0.5 bar, when the wheel positions have been allocated

In addition the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster is actuated continuously.

Warning message 6
"Hard warning" in event of leak detection (rapid pressure loss) at a tire, without position specified, if one of the following conditions is present:
- Pressure loss during driving operation of p greater than 0.1 bar/min., if wheel positions are not identified.

In addition the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster is actuated continuously.

Warning message 7
The tire pressure monitor has detected filling of the tire, but the new tire air pressure values are implausible. The previous warning thresholds are retained.

The message is displayed until a pressure correction or manual reactivation takes place.

Warning message 8
The tire pressure monitor control unit is unable to receive signals from the tire pressure sensors.

Possible cause: Wheels fitted without tire pressure sensors.

On vehicles with code (494) USA version, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster flashes for t = 60 s. Then it will be actuated permanently. Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.

Warning message 9
The tire pressure monitor is temporarily inactive due to one of the following potential causes:
- Interfering transmitters in vicinity
- over voltage or under voltage present

In this case, a repair is not required for the defect.

On vehicles with code (494) USA version, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster flashes for t = 60 s. Then it will be actuated permanently. Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.

Warning message 10
The tire pressure monitor does not detect all the tire pressure sensors. Possible causes:
- Spare tire fitted without tire pressure sensor
- Tire pressure sensor defective
- Battery of respective tire pressure sensor empty
- Over temperature of respective tire pressure sensor
- Individual tire pressure sensors are missing

On vehicles with code (494) USA version, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster flashes for t = 60 s. Then it will be actuated permanently. Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.

Warning message 11
Operating feedback following manual restart by pressing the scroll forward back/button and then pressing the OK button for "Menu display 3". The current tire pressures are adopted as specified pressures (specified values) for each tire.
