Reason for change

Complaint:
The roller blind of the panoramic roof is blocked.

Metal band of roller blind broken.

Roller blind fabric torn.

Cause:
The following causes are possible:

1. Antenna cable was incorrectly routed. Antenna cable chafes on roller blind shaft after blind is rolled up (roller blind open).

2. Sealant bead on frame of panoramic roof at center rear protrudes too far, causing the roller blind to chafe (roller blind rolled up/open).

3. On black roller blinds, the dying of the blind fabric produces a higher tension in the fabric, which can result in excessive resistance at the guide rails and metal band, possibly leading to failures.

Result of all causes: Roller blind does not run straight (forms wrinkles), tilts (excessive resistance) and locks up (guide rail damaged, metal band breaks, fabric tears).

Remedy:
Re. 1. Check roller blind shaft (blind rolled up) for freedom of movement.

Re. 2. Remove protruding sealant bead (center rear of roof frame). Pay attention to chafing points.

Re. 3. Modification of roller blind fabric (stretchier) currently still on trial, implementation approx. spring 2011

In all cases, as usual, replace roller blind, check guide rails for damage and replace them if necessary.
