Voice control, general
The individual functions of the driver information system can be called up and operated using the voice control system (VCS [SBS]). The voice control system is integrated into the audio equipment. Voice control operates by spelling out letters or pronouncing complete words.
The voice control can be activated or deactivated using the following buttons on the multifunction steering wheel:
- Voice control system ON button (S111s4)
- "Back" and voice control system OFF button (S110s4)
The control signal of the voice control system on button or the "Back" button is forwarded to the audio equipment via the following components:
- Direct line
- Steering wheel electronics (N135)
- Steering LIN (LIN E1)
- Steering column module control unit (N80)
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
The voice commands are registered by the hands-free system microphone (A67b1) and forwarded to the audio equipment via a direct line.
Voice output is conducted over the vehicle speaker system.
For vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the audio equipment actuates the following speakers:
- Left door tweeter (H4/1h1)
- Left door bass speaker (H4/1h2)
- Right door tweeter (H4/2h1)
- Right door bass speaker (H4/2h2)
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the audio equipment sends the audio signals through the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), which then amplifies them and outputs them over the following speakers:
- Door tweeter
- Door bass speaker
- Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)
